Pyramid Journey

Pyramid Journey is a first-person walk across the Giza plateau as it stands today: exposed stone courses, the truncated summit of Khufu, the worn Sphinx, and the city pressing in at the edge of the sand. You start beside the Sphinx's forepaws and end on the summit with the Nile in view.

Inside the Great Pyramid the route follows the real sequence: the north entrance, the descending and ascending passages, the corbelled Grand Gallery, and the granite King's Chamber with its coffer. A field journal (Tab) explains each stop, and says plainly which parts are evidence and which are our interpretation.

There is no combat, no inventory and no timer. Checkpoints save automatically. The whole route takes about forty minutes at a walking pace, and you can stop anywhere and look.

The route

  • The Sphinx and the plateau, present day
  • Khufu's north entrance and the descending passage
  • The ascending passage and the Grand Gallery
  • The King's Chamber and the relieving chambers above it
  • An imagined exit, a rope ascent and the summit panorama
